Buyer remorse.

That's probably what many iPhone owners are feeling now that Steve Jobs has announced a $200 price cut for the phone. A new iPod with the same interface as the iPhone, called the iTouch, has also been announced. Also announced- Apple will be partnering with Starbucks to offer song downloads (straight to your iPod) from participating Starbucks locations.

Sometimes it sucks to be an early adopter. My sister's fiance bought one about two weeks ago. I think she'll have fun "told you so"-ing if he can't get a refund. I'd told them he should at least wait until the January Mac convention, because Apple products always have a nice features add/price drop after the first year or so. I didn't expect it to happen this soon!

If his purchase is hovering around 14 days, he should have a good chance at getting the refund. I wasn't expecting to see the price cut either (I figured it would arrive near the holiday season). They already expect to hit 1 million iPhone sales before the end of September, but it will be interesting to see how well sales continue to do. Apple's decision to discontinue the 4GB version/ sell the remaining stock of 4 GB for $299 (the reason they can offer the $200 cut) is very reminiscent of Sony's decision to discontinue the two cheaper versions of the PS3 console.

Possibly. If he can't get a full weekend, Apple just posted a letter from Steve Jobs offering everyone $100 giftcards along with a reminder that technology is a bumpy road.

I didn't know that about the PS3s, but I was briefly tempted to get one of the $299 4GB models this morning.
